Marble floors always had a special place for people who believed in class and wanted to have the best for them in case of home décor. But every user knows how tough it is to maintain a marble floor. And once the marble begins to crack due to pressure or other external reasons, it would wash out your style and class statement with it. Nothing looks worst than a cracked or discolored marble floor.

You must take proper care to maintain the beauty of your floor. Though it is a continuous process but at times you need to take some extra initiative like a complete or partial marble restoration.

You must remember that though marble is stronger than almost all flooring materials, still it is susceptible to heat or extreme pressure or constant friction. Marble is a porous element and it gathers stains and other unwanted elements around it faster than artificial stones or tiles and looses its actual color pattern or grandeur.

As our experience goes one of the most common factors for marble damage is that proper care was not taken while installing the marble on the sub-floor. If you are thinking about installing marble be careful about this step.

You must take proper care about cleaning the sub-floor perfectly and also make sure that the floor is even throughout the installation area. This is necessary as if the floor is not even and clean, the tiles or marble plates will not be able to hold a tight grip on the floor. Apart from that there might remain some vacuum (air space) under the surface which can make the marble crack faster than usual under pressure. In such cases cracks may open up even owing to weather changes. And you will have nothing to do about it. It is always better to take this step carefully otherwise you will have to reinstall the floor again.

Another big reason behind the crack is the use of low quality grouts. If you do not use good quality grout to save some money, it will soon loose its adhesive strength and may damage the marble. In such a case too, you would need to go for marble restoration and you may also need to buy a new piece of marble which may not match the color tone or texture of the original marble.

When these sorts of problems arise, you can try yourself to fix the problem or you may contact a professional company to do that for you. If you want to do it yourself, collect the required material like chisel, marbles for replacement, tar paper and good quality grout.
